Ways To Make Your Kids Feel Independent And In Control

It is natural for parents to get protective and keep their kids under close supervision just to make sure that they don’t get injured or hurt themselves in some way. More often than not, parents jump in to save their children at the first chance of trouble instead of letting the child solve the problem on his own and learning to handle different issues. Parents plunge to catch their child before falling even while exploring the modular playground equipments. To parents, it might seem like a normal duty they owe to their kids, for children it can have several bad effects on their development as well as self-confidence.

Generally, children are very much dependent on their parents for love and guidance in their young age as well as a sense of protection and affection in the company of parents. However, as they grow they also need to feel more independent and in control of their own lives so they not only learn to deal with life as it comes but also get to build self-confidence as well as a sense of responsibility. Not giving children this space does exactly the opposite and makes them grow up to be dependent and scared of taking things on their own. Their starting learning places are the playground structures which is also the place where most of the unnecessary intervention by parents is seen.

It is much better to make your child feel self-reliant and accountable as they grow up. It can be a hard challenge for parents to see their kids in difficulty and not jump right in to help them, but smart parents realize that it is an essential part of children’s proper growth and development. In this post are some tips to help parents get over their fear of letting their child be and instead of nurturing and bringing him up in the best manner possible.

1 Your Kids Will Do What They See Not What They Are Told
It is essential for parents to set an example of behavior for their children. Do not forget that irrespective of the moral and ideological talk you have with them, what you do practically will have a more intense and long-lasting impact on their behavior. So instead of trying to help them in solving matters, show them how you solve your own problems and let them use your approach to solve theirs. Be patient and mindful and they will follow suit.

2 If You Must Help Then Help In Finding Opportunities
If by any means you feel that you are not doing enough for your child by staying on the sidelines when he is in trouble, make up for that by finding opportunities for them to learn. Observe your little ones, find out their interests and choose activities that your kids can take up to improve their social and mental abilities. Being part of a team of kids who brush their teeth, fold their shirts and clean up after them would help the child learn much faster than if he is simply told to do so by his parents. Optimizing environment also includes making sure that the kids are not being exposed to any harmful material like electric wires or corrosive chemicals.
