Former FIFA Player of the year,George Weah has been elected as Liberia's 25th President. He is the only African to have won the coveted FIFA Player of the year (christened as the Balon d'Or) back in 1995. In 1989, 1994 and 1995, he was named the African Footballer of the Year, and in 1996, he was named African Player of the Century.

Weah will be replacing Africa’s first female head of state, economist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and see the West African nation, founded by freed American slaves, hand over power from one democratically elected government to another.

Congratulations!!!
